How do you keep your prices so low?
We are a broker, not a dealership. Our primary business focus is in locating
quality pre-owned cars at the best possible price for our clients, based
on their specifications, rather than selling cars that we already own. Our
extremely low overhead allows our clients to purchase fine automobiles at
only a small markup, (our finder's fee), from the acquisition price, which
is either at or below the dealer's wholesale price.
Where do you find the cars?
We purchase our cars from a variety of locations throughout the United
States, including other dealers and brokers, and dealers-only wholesale
auctions. With the growth of the Internet, and the information services
available it is now possible to do nationwide searches for available cars,
and to consult data bases which contain complete histories for any
available car. All of the cars we procure are thoroughly inspected to
guarantee that there are no mechanical or cosmetic defects. With today's
information bases on the Internet, and technological inspection tools, it
is possible to verify that a car has never been in an accident or has
never been partially or wholly repainted.
Aren't Auctions a risky place to obtain a car?
In the past some people have expressed apprehension over the idea of
purchasing a vehicle obtained from an auction. People often believe that
it is extremely risky to purchase cars at auctions. They are correct with
respect to most auctions, especially public auto auctions. The quality of
cars available at public auto auctions is not the same as cars available
at certain high-end, dealers-only, auction sales.
The auction sales we attend most frequently are operated by Manheim
Auction Company, the largest auto auction company in the world, which
is
only open to dealers. Manheim runs their auctions under a strictly
controlled environment that protects purchasers from defective
automobiles. Manheim requires the disclosure of the following items:
- Non-standard titles: such as salvage, flood damage, theft
recovery, etc.
- Any major mechanical problems or frame damage.
- Inaccurate actual mileage as displayed on the odometer.
If there is a failure to disclose any of the above items the car may be
returned to Manheim Auction Company for a full refund.
Most pre-owned cars sold at your local franchised dealerships are
purchased at the same auctions we attend or other similar auctions. The
majority of these cars are new-car dealer trade-ins and factory off-lease
vehicles. Many of the cars we purchase are sold by companies such as:
Ford Motor Credit Corp., General Motors Acceptance Corp., Mercedes Benz
Credit Corp., Lexus Financial Services, Nissan Acceptance Corp., Toyota
Financial Services, Honda Finance, BMW Financial Services, Porsche Credit,
etc. These are clean cars coming from reputable sources.
When you state a vehicle has not be involved in any type of
accident how do you know?
Using a device called a paint
thickness gauge we measure the thickness of
the paint on the car's body panels, to a precision of less than 10
microns, and compare it with OEM specifications. It is impossible for
even the best body shops to match the exact original paint depth from the
factory. In this way, we can easily and reliably determine if a car has
been involved in an accident.
How much money are you really saving me?
You be the judge. Comparison-shop the prices of our vehicles with any
source you like: The Kelley
Blue Book,
NADA,
Autotrader, local dealerships, classified advertising, etc. Our prices are thousands under
those offered by franchised dealerships, and our cars come from exactly
the same sources.
I don't live anywhere near you, how will I get my
car?
You can come to us and pick up the car or we can help you arrange to have
your vehicle shipped.
If you choose to pick up the car yourself we will gladly provide
transportation for you from any local airport, train station, or bus
station. If you choose to have your car shipped it will likely cost you
between $200 and $1000 within the continental United States depending on
your distance from us. If you are
purchasing a high-end or exotic vehicle you may want to consider shipping
it in a
covered trailer, which will cost a little more. In our useful links
section we have links to several auto shippers and transport
brokers. Please understand that we arrange shipping only as a courtesy to
the customer and we are not responsible for the actions of the shipper.
Please make sure you are comfortable with your choice of shipper and that
they fully insure the cars they ship.
What about state sales tax?
If you are a Pennsylvania resident we will be required to collect 6% sales
tax on the sale of the vehicle. If you are an out-of-state resident you
will not pay any sales tax at the time you purchase the vehicle. Most
likely your home state will collect applicable taxes when you register
your vehicle. We can provide out-of-state residents with a temporary tag
and registration good for 30 days. We will need a photocopy of your
driver's license and valid insurance card.
What about warranties?
Factory warranties are completely 100% transferable. If you are
purchasing a newer car you will get the remainder of the factory warranty.
Once you have specified a particular car, (make, year, and maximum
mileage), we can advise you of the time that will remain on the original
factory warranty. Most factory warranties can be extended at your local
franchise dealership if you desire, as long as the car is still covered by
the original warranty. If your car is not under factory warranty you may
want to consider looking into an aftermarket warranty. We have several
aftermarket warranty companies listed in our useful links section, but there are also other
reputable firms offering this service.
I'm not local to Eastern Pennsylvania. I'm not
comfortable purchasing a car I haven't seen.
If you do not live in the area you can have an inspection service or local
dealer inspect the car. Two reliable independent inspection services
local to us are Vehicle
Care Management Corp and Carchex. We also encourage
you to run a Carfax report or
an Autocheck report on
our vehicles.
What is normal to expect from a pre-owned car?
You should expect reasonable wear and tear consistent with the age and
mileage of the vehicle. A nearly new vehicle that is still under factory
warranty should be expected to be free from any and all defects. Should
any problems occur they would be repaired, under warranty, free of charge,
by your local franchised dealership. (Note: If it is within your budget
we strongly reccomend purchasing a car still under factory warranty)
Can I purchase a vehicle from you using financing
or a lease?
Yes! We can offer financing on any vehicle and leasing on 2001 and
newer vehicles. If you are interested in financing we highly recommend
People First, they
consistently have some
of the lowest rates available anywhere. If you are unable to obtain
financing through People First or just wish to finance elsewhere we can
provide alternate financing but it is usually at a higher rate. If you
are interested in leasing please email info@aspenauto.com and let us know
which vehicle you're
interested in and what kind of terms you'd like for your lease.
What about the cars you own and have for sale?
These are usually the best buys that we have. We generally purchase these
cars only because, for whatever reason, they were obtained significantly
below the nationally recognized dealer's wholesale price. Although, we
had no specific request for these cars, we couldn't pass up the
opportunity to acquire these cars at such favorable pricing. If, by
coincidence, we have exactly what you want, this will generally be the
best buy on this model and year.
